The Challenge

Users visiting Special Olympics Texas struggle to quickly find relevant sports programs due to navigation overload, unclear categorization, and a lack of intuitive pathways based on season and sport type.

The Approach

The project began by gathering insights from parents of athletes and a Special Olympics coach to better understand how they use the website. These conversations helped identify common goals, frustrations, and the information users need most when visiting the site.

Research findings were analyzed to uncover recurring themes and pain points. The most significant was navigation overload, which made it difficult for users to quickly find sports programs, events, and registration information.

Using the research insights, multiple design concepts were generated through brainstorming and sketching exercises.

Low-fidelity wireframes were created before final visual design. These concepts were then refined into high-fidelity prototypes that emphasized accessibility, clear navigation, and user-friendly decision-making.

The Solution

The redesign emphasizes clear calls to action and simplified user flows that move visitors toward their goals. By prioritizing accessibility and intuitive navigation, we created a platform that empowers the Special Olympics community.
